Moreover, it is a part of your daily routine and lifestyle. So, yes, it goes without saying that leaving the equipment is not an option. Thus, you must figure out how to properly pack and transport gym equipment. Let us tell you upfront, doing that is far from being the walk in the park. And, if you are not careful enough, some of your expensive workout machines might get completely damaged. But, do not worry, there is a way. And, that is why we are here. Thus, if you want to find out how to properly pack and transport gym equipment, keep on reading.

Start By Cleaning EVERYTHING!

When you exercise, you sweat a lot. And, where does that sweat end up? On your gym equipment, of course. However, when people exercise at home, alone or with the help of a professional trainer, they tend to skip this cleaning step. This is where germs and bacteria start to thrive. So, before you start preparing your gym equipment for the relocation, make sure everything is cleaned and sanitized. So, how does one do that? Here are a few tips:

  1. Clean all surfaces using wet wipes or an all-purpose cleaner.
  2. Create your own mixture for cleaning gym equipment by mixing warm water either with vinegar or with bicarbonate soda.
  3. Wash all your towels and gym clothes in hot water.
  4. Let everything dry completely.

Moreover, do not forget to thoroughly clean the room (in your new home) where you plan on placing your gym equipment. You can use the same DIY cleaning mixture mentioned earlier. Doing this after you place your gym equipment will be a nightmare. So, make sure everything is thoroughly cleaned before you pack and transport gym equipment.

How to Move Yoga Mats

All professional trainers will always tell you the same thing – having a workout program is important! And, where does every workout begin and end? On your yoga mat! Before and after your workout you must first warm up and after it, you must stretch.  All of that happens on a yoga mat. Thus, when trying to pack and transport your gym equipment, start with your yoga mats. Packing them is easy. Simply roll or fold them, and then place them in a box.

How to Move Hand Weights, Dumbbells, and Barbells

Hand weights, dumbbells, and barbells are probably a few other things you have in your home gym. And, whether you have just one of each or multiples, it is important to know how to pack them properly. Our advice – use one small box for each weight. If you place everything in just one bigger box, it will probably tear apart. Moreover, when tearing, it might hurt you or damage some other stuff nearby. However, if you can not find cardboard boxes sturdy and strong enough to hold all the weights, dumbbells and barbells, consider investing in plastic bins. Yes, they are more expensive, but look on the bright side – you can reuse them after the move. Also, if you want to keep these things safe from scratches, make sure you wrap each weight in some old newspaper before placing it in a box.

How to Move Your Treadmill

Moving cardio exercising equipment like treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes is a workout itself. So, feel free to skip your exercise on the packing and moving day. Trust us, this move will be harder than any exercise you did. So, where to start? Well, first, make sure you unplug everything. Then, disassemble as much as you can. Unfortunately, when it comes to treadmills, there is not much that you can disassemble. Simply fold it and find somebody to assist you with all the heavy lifting (unless you hired professional and reliable Cairns movers). When your treadmill is folded, wrap it with several blankets – moving blankets or the ones from your household. Remember that these machines are very heavy, thus do not try to lift them by yourself no matter how fit you are.

Be careful when lifting your workout machines in order not to hurt yourself nor damage the equipment.

How to Move Your Elliptical

An elliptical machine is even more complex item to prepare and pack. And why is that? Because, unlike the treadmill, it can not be folded. Moreover, it is very heavy and bulky. So, again, you must start with disassembling. You can remove the pedals and handlebars using a screwdriver. After you remove all the nuts and bolts, remember to place them in a plastic zip bag in order not to lose them. And, finally, just like with the treadmill, wrap the machine into a moving blanket and carefully place it into your moving truck. Again, do not even try to do this alone! If you want to properly pack and transport your gym equipment, find help – either a couple of fit friends or professional movers. Moreover, make sure you have the right kind of packing supplies to help you move with ease before you start anything else.

How to Move Your Stationary Bike

Stationery bikes are some of the most common exercising equipment people have in their homes. Luckily, the process of relocating a stationary bike will not be a nightmare! This is because this machine is not that bulky nor heavy. Moreover, many of its pieces can be disassembled. So, you know what to do, firstly remove the parts you can of the body of the machine. Remember to label everything! Then, wrap all the pieces in a moving blanket. For this step, you probably do not anybody’s help as this exercising equipment is not that heavy. Hopefully, these tips and tricks can help you properly pack and transport gym equipment! Good luck!
